My Sentence

I found the director in me, brought her out, and the outcome was this movie that made the director flourish in me.

My Panel

My panel consists of Carlton Ahrens, Ford Gunter, Liz Thornton, and Dale Dilworth. Carlton and Ford are independent filmmakers so they will help me with the movie making part. Liz Thornton can help me with the layout and script writing because she's in charge of yearbook so she knows how that works. Dale also does short movies on his own, so he can help me as well. They will all evaluate my movie. Carlton and Ford will focus on the angles and the way I filmed the movie. Liz will evaluate how well I prepared and if I went by the script I will make. Dale will evaluate the content of the movie and how well I drive my point across. I have been researching the types of movies I could do and how directors use techniques to portray the message they want to portray.

Progress

There has been a lot of progress. My film will be a fictional story, it will shows the lives of two completely different people, one wealthy and one, not so much. The struggles each go through to receive a good education.

I've been working on my TED talk presentation. Although, I know what point I want to get across, it's hard to show other people my view with a presentation. This is why I'm doing a film because it's easier to actually show people, but now I have to perfect my presentation to try to do show the same point I hope my future film will accomplish.

More Change

So I am going back to my film idea. It has me a little stressed because now I have to start all over. And no I won't change my idea again, it's too late now. Since my mentor is a filmmaker he has agreed to help me out which makes me glad. So now I have to work on planning and story boarding everything out. I still need to do a little research as well.

the power of images

Jehane talks about the "power of images". The power of still images(photographs) and the power of moving images(film). Film and photography are used to express yourself and also to communicate with others. It's an art form that is very strong because images are what we see a lot of nowadays. Would you rather have a video of something or just have someone tell you what happened?Of course you would want a video or picture. As we all know, when information is conveyed by people just talking about it, the information tends to change with every different person that tells it. It's how disputes get started. I think we all want a place where we can express ourselves and exchange our ideas with others and what better place to do that by imagery on the internet.

Even Better

Thank you Rebecca for the suggestions you made, but I am changing my senior project. My original idea lacked something, which is why I am now working with Lucila Martinez to create an amazing website. This website will be a place where anyone can upload their art, whether it's a photograph or a video. It's a way to express yourself. We will have contests and such to make this website more exciting. Lucila and myself will also be contributing by adding art of our own. It's going to be a sort of art gallery created by the people who upload their videos and photographs. It's going to be interesting to see how talented people are and what free expression can do for an artistic community.

Show The World!

Movies are a way of showing someone your view on things. It has always been easier for me to show people than tell them how I feel, which is why I respect people who can write well. Movies have always appealed to me so I decided to try to show the world my view on how poverty affects the education we receive. Sometimes we don't have enough money to pursue a great education. Yes there are opportunities for people without money who seek education, but there are also much more obstacles. I'm still trying to decide whether I should do a documentary type of film or make up a story conveying the same point I want to drive across. Yes, a fictional story is more troublesome to do, but it's something worth trying.
